As the Founder and CEO of One Story Media Group, he brings institutional rigor, cultural fluency, and creative leadership to programming spanning streaming, digital, and cable.

Allen is best known for directing Street Somm, the Daytime Emmy® and James Beard-nominated television series, and for his work across CNN’s most influential programming divisions - Larry King Live, CNN Presents, and CNN Newsroom. During his tenure, he produced landmark documentaries including Black in America and co-created CNN’s first original reality format. He scripted live global coverage for CNN’s flagship anchors, driving breaking news coverage of politics, sports, legal cases, and defining cultural moments marked by crisis, reckoning, and change, including initiating CNN’s coverage of the death of Trayvon Martin. His journalism and documentary work from this period earned recognition from the News & Documentary Emmy® Awards, Peabody Awards, New York Festivals TV & Film Awards, the New York Association of Black Journalists, and the GLAAD Media Awards.

Building on that foundation, Allen joined the original creative team that launched VICELAND the television channel at VICE Media, directing long-form documentary and original interstitial programming recognized by the Global Entertainment Marketing Academy. He later led branded entertainment at ATTN:, overseeing premium nonfiction and cultural storytelling for global brand partners across digital platforms. His directing credits include the Streamy Award-nominated Finding Home in America for Zillow, a Shorty Award-winning Alzheimer’s awareness campaign with CAA, and a Lyft and Wieden+Kennedy-produced series that raised thousands for nonprofit organizations. In parallel, he produced live election and inauguration coverage for BET, directed studio-backed table-talk formats for Universal Pictures, and served as Supervising Producer on YouTube Originals including Issa Rae’s Bear Witness, Take Action 3, recognized by Beyoncé’s BeyGOOD Foundation, and Tastemade Studios’ A New Green Book.

A graduate of Morehouse College, Allen brings a distinct point of view shaped by journalism, culture, and impact-driven storytelling, one that consistently resonates with audiences worldwide.
